DocKernel provides browser-based PDF to Markdown previews and account-based conversion services. By using the service, you acknowledge the practices in this Privacy Policy. The policy applies to dockernel.com, the DocKernel API, account pages, and related support interactions.
Who controls your data
DocKernel operates the service and is responsible for the personal information described here. For privacy questions, access requests, or deletion requests, contact support@dockernel.com. We will use the information needed to verify and respond to your request.
Information we collect
When you create an account, we may receive your name, email address, profile image, locale, OAuth provider, and provider account identifier. We also collect order, subscription, credit balance, conversion status, API key metadata, support correspondence, and basic security information such as IP address, timestamps, and device or browser signals. Analytics tools may collect pages viewed, interaction events, and device and browser details.
PDFs and conversion outputs
The browser preview reads a selected PDF locally and does not upload it for the local preview path. When you start a cloud conversion, the requested PDF and derived Markdown, images, or metadata are transmitted to the DocKernel service and its configured processing providers. Access is restricted to the account and job that owns the file, and downloads use scoped links.
How we use information
We use information to authenticate accounts, process conversions, maintain credit and subscription entitlements, send service and security messages, prevent abuse, troubleshoot failures, provide support, reconcile payments, and understand site usage and improve reliability. We do not sell uploaded document content or use it for unrelated advertising profiles.
Service providers and sharing
We share information needed to operate the service with authentication providers such as Google or GitHub, payment providers such as Waffo or Creem, Cloudflare infrastructure, configured document-processing providers, and analytics providers Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity. Analytics may receive page views, interaction events, and device or browser details. GA4 page-view URLs are sent without query strings. Clarity session recordings mask document names and conversion output, account pages, and admin data. Providers may process information in other countries and must handle it under their service and security obligations. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the service and its users.
Retention and deletion
Account and billing records are retained while needed to provide the service, meet accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and prevent abuse. Cloud conversion files and derived artifacts are retained for up to seven days by default in the current service configuration unless a job or support case requires a shorter or longer period. You may request earlier deletion at support@dockernel.com; deletion may not remove records that law requires us to keep.
Your choices and rights
You may request access to, correction of, export of, or deletion of personal information associated with your account. You may cancel a subscription, disable an API key, delete saved conversion records, or unsubscribe from non-essential email at any time. You can limit analytics through browser privacy settings or extensions. We may ask for account verification before completing a request, and local law may provide additional rights.
Security
DocKernel uses account authorization, signed download links, limited service credentials, webhook verification, and operational logs designed to protect the service. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Please do not upload information you are not authorized to process, and contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
International processing
DocKernel and its infrastructure providers may process information in locations outside your country or region. Where required, we use appropriate contractual, organizational, or other safeguards for international transfers. Your use of the service includes consent to this cross-border processing to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Children
The service is intended for adults and business or professional workflows. It is not directed to children under the minimum age required in their jurisdiction. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact support@dockernel.com so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the service, providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top will change with a material update. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies from its effective date.
